King Kong (the Fay Wray version), terrified me when I was 10; branding New York City as a place of mystery, danger and fascination. As an adult, I've tamed these fears using my camera.
My Portfolios of New York City reflect my love of her beauty, eccentricity, and dynamism.
The Manhattan skyline is defined as a "cityscape." My background of mountain photography led me to see it as a series of peaks and canyons within nature- the skies overhead. In "Nature Over New York," I've captured rainbows, double-rainbows, lightning, blazing dawn skies, passing storm fronts- and even colliding weather fronts at the instant of a tornado watch alert.
My ongoing photographic Portfolios of New York City are :
Nature Over New York:
Panoramas (Bridge-to-Bridge and Midtown)
Dawn (Dawn and pre-Dawn skies over Midtown)
and
Into the Light (abstracts of Commuters, camera pointed towards the morning sun)
Heads-Up (human statuary on buildings)
Coney Island (including "Astroland's Last Day)
I'm also the "official Photographer" of New York City's magic. Really. Thanks to my wife Margaret Steele (Magician and Musician), I'm the official Photographer of the Society of American Magicians Parent Assembly #1.
