My works are diaries and visual documents of history. They speak of the tragedy of war and the threat of ecological disasters, which leave behind a trail of death, devastation and uncounted shattered lives. The heavily encrusted surfaces contain residues of nature, such as sand, ashes, and plants, to generate a strong sense of physical presence. They convey the obliteration of the land and the grief of the people who once inhabited it. The sand symbolizes the passage of time, a coating that envelops history, while collages imbedded into the wastelands remind of our present concerns and their consequences.
Oil Spill book II shows the destruction caused by the release of a liquid-based petroleum hydrocarbon into the ocean or coastal waters and its devastating effect upon the environment, ecosystems, marshes and marine mammals. All caused as a result of human activity.
